Topic: How to for IDEs

Ok I know getting the basics is simple but I am having issues with NB 6.5 and 6.7.

The 6.5 will not create any new files in my project and the web server setup fails for any web app using mod_rewrite.

The 6.7 has the same issue as above with creating files but is fixed by setting the JVM to 6.  This causes frequent crashes.

PDT was a major failure.

ZS 7 looks great but I can't layout that type of cash right now.

Any advice for Mac OS X or even Linux as the OS would be great. For now I'll keep using TextMate but I reference the Zend 3 to 5 times a day so auto-complete would be great.

Re: How to for IDEs

I just switched to Netbeans 6.7.1 and have been really happy with it. Not sure why you're having so many problems with mod_rewrite... you can set the web root of a project in netbeans (e.g. to be public/)

Are you using MAMP?

Re: How to for IDEs

do you not find that netbeans runs very sluggish compared to say zend studio? it might be because im using 64bit linux though!

Re: How to for IDEs

heh, I find the opposite on the Mac OS... I generally use BBEdit and NetBeans. Zend Studio 6.1 was great but I didn't find any huge gains in version 7, although I found it to be a little snappier. I'll definitely check ZS 8, but for now I'm on netbeans smile

Re: How to for IDEs

i dont use NAMP.
mor_rewrite problem best solution is make virtual host like projectname.localhost for example.

Re: How to for IDEs

I have been using eclipse but last week loaded netbeans 6.7 on my laptop and have been using it.  It has some features that I like, but it does seem to be more sluggish, it may just be due to limited memory on the laptop.  Not sure if I will stay with netbeans or go back to using eclipse.
